The Hague, 15 September 2025
GMACCC member Matt Luna, Organizer / Founder of The Hague Roundtable on Climate & Security recently published the report of the 17th meeting of the Roundtable, co-hosted by the British Embassy in The Hague on 5 June 2025. The meeting brought together 70 participants from more than 20 countries to discuss “Energy Security and Climate Cooperation in a Geopolitical Context of Increased Defence Readiness.” Just weeks before the NATO Summit 2025 in The Hague the event provided a forum for representatives of embassies, NGOs, universities and the private sector to exchange expertise on threats and solutions amid emerging challenges in shifting international priorities and security focus.
Keith Allan, Deputy Ambassador, British Embassy is quoted as saying “We cannot address the urgency of the climate and nature crisis without coordinated global action. And that starts with constructive dialogue and positive discussion, breaking down silos to discuss the most pressing issues of our time. This 17th Hague Roundtable on Climate & Security did just that, bringing together government, the diplomatic community, academia and civil society. In particular, we were glad to welcome many colleagues from industry to the Roundtable for the first time. Their unique insights on the importance of energy security for national security and climate cooperation were invaluable”.
